LIFE AFTER DEATH To Appear On METALLICA Tribute CD
September 30, 2003LIFE AFTER DEATH, the Los Angeles-based band featuring ARMORED SAINT drummer Gonzo and guitarist Phil Sandoval, have been asked by producer Bob Kulick to contribute a song to an upcoming METALLICA tribute album, tentatively due before the end of the year through Cleopatra Records.
"We decided to do the masterful 'Eye of the Beholder'," the band reveal in an online posting. "What a monster song! Energetically, the goal has been accomplished. No current release date as of yet, but there are very cool bands & musicians contributing to the final product [among them the reunited DARK ANGEL, who are contributing a version of 'Creeping Death' — Ed.] which will include 'the making of' on DVD. Jack Emerick (vocals) does an amazing rendition, Phil plays his first track handling all the guitar duties, Ray 'Geezer Butler' [Burke] laid down the killer bass part and Gonzo mapped out the drums & pounded them out. It all sounds very fresh but true to the song. We added a special part to the song which includes Ray's wife Leanna on hand drums (hopefully they won't be buried in the mix so you all can hear them)... We are all very proud of the way the song came out. It was a pleasure & thrill to be included in the making of this record."
In related news, ARMORED SAINT are putting together a brand-new, as-yet-untitled DVD which will feature live bootleg footage filmed during the "Symbol of Salvation" and the reunion "Revelation" tours. Several additional features will be included on the disc, which will be released sometime in the spring.
